Attending A QI Recording

If you've been allocated tickets for QI, this guide contains all the details you need for attending a recording.

If you have any further questions, please email audience@qi.com.

QI is filmed at: The London Studios, Upper Ground, SE1 9LT

Times

If you've been allocated tickets, they will be for a recording that takes place either in the afternoon or the evening.

Doors open approximately half an hour before the show start time, and the recording usually lasts about two hours.

Travelling To The Studios

By train: The studios are within walking distance of London Waterloo station. Click here to plan your journey with National Rail.

By tube: The nearest underground station is London Waterloo. The studios are also a short walk from:
EMBANKMENT (Circle, District, Northern and Bakerloo lines)
BLACKFRIARS, TEMPLE (Circle and District lines)
SOUTHWARK (Jubilee line)

By car: There is very limited parking available opposite the studios; therefore we recommend you use public transport for the final leg of your journey.

Queueing

Ticket holders usually form a queue down the path running along the West side of the studios. Non-priority tickets do NOT guarantee admission (see Getting Tickets section for more details) and so for this reason ticket-holders do begin to queue up to two hours before the recording.

QI isn't always the only show being recorded at the studios, so there is sometimes more than one queue. They are often sorted and split up at certain times, so do keep one eye out to make sure you are in the right place!

QI priority and non-priority tickets holders are also separated into different queues.

Keep your tickets to hand as they may be checked more than once.

What To Bring

There is no seating and little shade or shelter around the queueing area, so do come suitably prepared for the weather.

Fellow QI fans are usually more than happy to save your place in the queue if you need to briefly duck out in hunt of a snack (there is a corner shop nearby and occasionally an ice cream stall), but do bring plenty of drinking water and something to nibble on if you intend to arrive early.

The studio audience seating can be a little uncomfortable, so you might want to bring something soft to sit on. However, please consider the view of the person sitting behind you!

No photography of any kind is permitted inside the London Studios, so please leave all cameras at home, and switch off all mobile phones when entering the building. Bags will be checked on entry and photography devices that are used inside the studio are confiscated until the end of the evening.

Toilets

Ticket-holders are free to use the toilets inside the studios during queue time (just ask a fellow queue member to save your place), or once you have been allocated a seat in the audience.

However, if you leave to use the toilet whilst being led into the building, you will lose your place in the queue.
