Television is an incredibly varied and popular industry and, as such, the tricky part is finding that first foot on the ladder. The good news is that TV thrives on ideas, creativity and hard work and there are opportunities out there.

In terms of production the hierarchy is Runner – Junior Researcher – Researcher – Senior Researcher – Assistant Producer (AP) – Producer. However, this is by no means the set career path. There are many other routes, such as development (coming up with ideas), archive research or picture research.
