QI's deepest, darkest secret.

Scoring

The following is a step by step guide to calculating scores for the show, straight from the QI instruction manual. Some information has been censored for security purposes.

The QI scoring process begins with ███████ ██████ and a  ██████████. Colin ████████ from Lumina ███████ a ████ with a laser, and █████████ a proprietary algorithm. Next, █████████
████ ████████ █████ and the result is divided by 4. ████████ ████ ███████ ████ if it's an election year, and if not, ███. Add █, █████ Stephen's shoe size, █████ and ████ █████████ 'Numberwang'.

███ ████████████ ████████ ██████ numbers come out of a pneumatic tube, and ████ ███████ of the ████ ███, ████ ███████ developed at Bletchley Park. ████ ██████ is calculated. ███ ███████ the date, with coloured dice and a Monopoly board, and ███ ████████ ██, factoring in air pressure and pH. ███████ ███████████ 2, 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42. ██████ are ████, then ███ █████████ and of course, llamas.

The final stage of the process involves ████ing pi, and █████ some pie. ████ ████ ███████the ███, ██████████ twelve █████, and examination of sacrificial entrails. ███████████ ███ using a special type of long division discovered on a scroll in the Himalayas. ████████████ secret █████. ████████ ████████, before rounding to the nearest attractive-looking number ████████ ██████ █████ █████  █████ ██████ ███
███████ at Stephen's discretion. █████ ███████ in an underground bunker beneath Whitehall. ████, ███████ ██. Then carry the one.

The QI scoring system involves the only known practical use for simultaneous equations in the world.

Stephen's score is currently 80000000000 00000000000000000000 00000000000000000000 0000000000000044. It's partly self-awarded.

Alan has won more games than any other panellist, yet he has the lowest total score of anyone, with negative 2283 points.

Facts and Figures

We're working on making the scores for every QI episode, plus a statistical breakdown available online - but in the meantime, here are some fan-made versions:

The mathematician who calculates the scores is assassinated and replaced after each episode for security reasons.

Alan has achieved both the highest and lowest ever scores - negative 144, and 689.66 (when we gave him back all the unfairly lost points from the previous ten series.

Three new numbers were developed by Cambridge University in 2001, designed specifically for calculating QI scores.

QI'S PRODUCER ON THE SCORING SYSTEM

I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to discuss that information.

QI's most successful panellist is Rich Hall, who has won 10 out of the 24 episodes he has appeared in.
